Info concerning UCF community health program, registering for degree programs, and taking tests for free online. Nursing is one of the fastest-growing job areas, and for good reason. As the population ages, medical care will continue to expand. If you complete the community health program, for example, there are a variety of nursing concentrations that may appeal to you, such as certified nurse assistant CNA training, the nursing aide program, or occupational rehabilitation. Check with the community health department for an updated schedule of classes, registration deadlines, and a list of community health program requirements. Due to advances in medical systems, there is a growing skill-shortage of trained nurses, and of medical professionals in general. Please use the form above to request admissions info for UCF.

Healthcare jobs such as registered nurses, LPN's, LVN's and related vocational technicians provide over 15 million jobs in the United States alone. Some community health program graduates find employment as health technologists and technicians, electronic medical records specialists, billing department personnel, health information technicians, diagnostic medical sonographers, or radiologic technicians. The American Hospital Association is the national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities.

The outlook for technical medical careers is especially bright. Opportunities for community health program grads are expected to increase by 10% to 20% in the next eight years. The increasing number of elderly people is seen as a primary factor in this growth. As people age they have more medical problems, and hospitals will require more technicians to perform specialized healthcare services. Aside from a good salary, most medical personnel receive comprehensive medical and dental benefits, as well as 401k retirement plans.

EMT Tech Training

Emergency medical technicians (EMT) and paramedics care for the injured in a variety of emergency medical settings. People's lives depend on their quick reaction times and competent care. Programs in emergency medical technology (EMT Training) are offered by technical institutes, community colleges, and facilities that specialize in emergency care training. Programs at the EMT level include instruction in assessing patients' conditions, dealing with trauma and cardiac emergencies, clearing obstructed airways, and using field equipment.

EMT courses include about 150 hours of specialized instruction, and clinical training can be in a hospital or ambulance setting. At the 'Advanced EMT' level, there are 400 hours of instruction, where candidates learn skills such as using complex airway devices, administering intravenous fluids, and giving some medications.
